Canada's Calgary Stampede
|
|
Tips in this Tour:
 | Make a list of your priorities from the Stampede’s website but be flexible. Rain might affect events at places like Saddledome Lane, Plaza Stage, Coca-Cola Stage, and the Midway. Parts of the Grandstand and Indian Village are not sheltered. |
 | If you only have a few days, include the opening Stampede parade. If you are serious about rodeos, come for the final weekend for the best riders and most active bulls and broncs. Book those tickets early. |
 | For cheaper Rodeo or Grandstand Show tickets, consider standing room. For free entry and free rodeo and grandstand show tickets, seniors should go early on Seniors’ Day. Kids’ and families also have free entry to the grounds on their days. |
 | From the parade route in City Centre to Stampede Park, it’s a short ride by LRT train, taxi or free horse-drawn wagon. The train operates 24 hours during Stampede time. Dates are July 9 to 18, 2010 and July 8 to 17, 2011. |
 | The web-site calgarystampede.com should answer all questions. Midway junkies should aim for the Stampede’s Sneak-a-Peak, the evening before the parade. The entrance fee is cheaper and line-ups are fewer then, if at all. |
