Tips in this Tour:
Bring food with you when visiting this park. Water and washrooms are available, but unless you catch and cook a bat, that’s it. There are a lot of restaurants in nearby Lompoc, though.
Under the church altar is the grave of the 1820s president of the California missions, Father Payeras.
Ever wonder what a restroom for priests was like in an 1820 Franciscan mission' You can find out here… there is a three-seater with stall walls, a rawhide “door,” a candle for night reading, a holder for hot coals, and a water pitcher to clean your hands.
The aqueducts, cisterns, clay tubing, and filtration system feeding the fountains are extraordinary.
Want to participate in the evening activities of a mission in the 1820’s, including a full meal of that time' This candlelight supper takes place in October and is extremely popular. Reservations for this sell-out event should be made by July.
